April was quite chill, which was great since it was my BIRTHDAY month, which I spent in Chiang Mai with my lovely Aunty who lives there and runs a spa....great getaway, who doesn't love Thailand; chilling with elephants, river rafting, thai massage everyday, spiritual retreats, and new friends and faces certainly made it a memorable time...there are pictures posted on my Facebook page, add me up at Chelsea Joelle and become a new friend... ;-)
As for May, I have done so much already! My Wednesday weekly at Werner's, "Rendezvous..." which is shaping up nicely with the addition of Ms. Joanna Chee as the marketing director of this fantastic venue....
I also played at a beautiful wedding in Ipoh last week, I really enjoy being a wedding dj, it's such a relaxed, lovely environment, and a true celebration....time for people to unite and just have a good time...which I definitely did, thanks to all those who invited me to play and make new friends...Sayangi Ipoh!!
Last week the students from Limkokwing Creative Tech University following me around for a couple of days to film a biography on me, tentatively titled "Princess of Darkness." I was happy to be their subject, altho I think I have a lot more career and experience to gain before I do a proper, full-length "biography."
I am still waiting for the half hour feature on myself and DJ Nuthiya to air on "Spin" ( Astro. ) Keep posted on that one...
As for print promotions, I am honored to be on the cover of this months "Expatriate Lifestyle" magazine, inside I also wrote an article on my Malaysian Ex-Pat experience on learning how to play the gamelan. Fun stuff.
I just finished an interview and photo shoot with 4 other female dj's for next months "Juice" magazine feature....the ladies really are making noise in 2009 here in KL and all over Malaysia, I am proud to be one of the trailblazers of this movement. Since my introduction to the scene last year, I have seen the demand for female dj's rise dramatically. On Changkat Bukit Bintang, the street that holds the hottest clubs in KL, there are 3 or 4 nights out of the week dedicated to hosting strictly female talent, not to mention Skybar, Lunabar, Le Blanc Club, and the list goes on...
