Chelsea J. began her career in media, communications and entertainment in the late nineties, starting with radio as a radio host, producer, music and content programmer and local personality,her experience in the music industry was insight to what was going on currently in the DJ culture and beyond. A little background…
Since very young, Chelsea's range of music knowledge is what made her unique amongst her peers, the natural progression to DJ came easy.
After her time on radio, where hip-hop, R&B and soul music was her mainstay, she was offered a job promoting for Vancouver’s first and only 2-Step/U.K Garage night.

That experience introduced her to the world of house and electronic music. Inspired by DJ’s and producers from both genres, she was encouraged by friends to invest in her first set of turntables.

After only a short time, Chelsea was playing for clubs and events throughout Vancouver. She was offered a position at the Rhythm Institute, a school and DJ agency started by another fellow female jock and entrepreneur, DJ Leanne. That opportunity was a turning point in her career, as she was specifically chosen and requested for many high-profile events and clients such as the Elite Fighting Championship After-Party, Bo-Dog Events, Cornucopia Wine Festival, Run for the Cure, Clubvibes NYE, movie wrap parties; or sponsored events through Audi, Oakley, Heineken, BMW, Hypnotiq, and Smirnoff.

Her experience playing professionally is focused on special events and product launches; graduations, weddings, wrap parties, fashion shows, grand openings, corporate events and seasonal parties; her versatility and ability to read and connect with any crowd is what separates her from other DJ’s, male or female.
Possessing a background in performance art and acting, Chelsea J. was one of the premier artists and burlesque performers in Vancouver’s famed “Ginger 62”, as Hollywood North’s established art-cum-house music venue and club; always the character, Chelsea loves to play with the crowd, and rise to the occasion when it’s called for; whether its for a James Bond theme party, or last year as Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider, or Pocahontas for Halloween, head’s turn and finger’s snap for this energetic, fun-loving, sassy “lady DJ.”

In 2004, she traveled outside of Canada, with the intent to experience and play throughout the world; from London to Berlin, Barcelona, Mykonos’s, Almeria, Amsterdam, Miami (WMC), NYC, T.O, and Montreal; gaining influence internationally allowed her range and repertoire to grow substantially.

In 2008, she was offered the incredible opportunity to travel to Asia and perform as the resident DJ and host for the Arena Singapore, a live international entertainment venue located in the world class Clarke Quay. During that time, Chelsea hosted many special events, played to crowds of 600+, worked alongside many different artists, musicians, and entertainers.

Within South East Asia, her list of club appearances falls nothing short of spectacular; citing venues such as “Zouk” KL for the “Queens of Hearts” tour, Sultan Lounge (Mandarin Oriental) Luna Bar, Sky Bar, Prive Singapore, Déjà vu Bali, and Ocean 10 Pattaya, that’s just to name a few…

Her crowning achievement was performing alongside Leona Lewis at the MTV Asia Awards ’08. She’s appeared in many print, TV, and radio spots – gracing the cover of TimeOut KL, Junk Magazine, Star Newspaper, The Beat Magazine Bali, an hour special about female DJ’s on Malaysian television, as a guest host on “Turn It Up” radio, and the list goes on!

Now back in her beautiful hometown of Vancouver, BC, after 2 years abroad, Chelsea J. is busy working with DJ Leanne and the Girl On Wax Event Crew – mainly with weddings, special events, and weekly events with the Joey’s chain of downtown locations.

Her music styles are versatile and stylish - from house ( vocal, big room, tech-house, deep house, afro, top 40, electro-tinged, Balearic, disco, and minimal ) to hip-hop, r&b, soul, funk, old skool, and top 40 party rock hits, indie, nu-rave/disco, retro, or rock ..... Chelsea has got the knowledge and finesse to put together the perfect soundtrack to any party or event....
Other recent events with Girl On Wax include a “girls only” DJ night school at Au Bar, swimwear fashion show at Opus Lounge, Joey's customer appreciation party, and the Tron Wrap Party..
